Julie Gordon, BA
Clinical Intern
About Me
I am a Master of Social Work (MSW) student at Virginia Commonwealth University with a background in psychology and a strong interest in trauma-informed, strengths-based care. I bring a thoughtful and compassionate presence to my work and am passionate about supporting adolescents, adults, and families navigating stress, life transitions, and complex mental health needs.
My academic training is complemented by meaningful lived experience supporting a family member with Autism and serious mental health diagnoses. Through navigating school systems, treatment programs, and community resources, I developed a deep appreciation for collaborative, family-centered care and advocacy. These experiences shape my empathetic, nonjudgmental approach and my commitment to meeting clients where they are.
Professionally, I have experience in systems-based roles that require strong documentation practices, ethical standards, and attention to detail. I value intentional learning, reflective practice, and ongoing supervision as I continue developing my clinical skills.
I am especially interested in working with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, and emotional regulation challenges, as well as supporting caregivers through strengths-based interventions. As an intern at Happy Place Therapeutic Services, I look forward to building meaningful therapeutic relationships and supporting clients as they work toward their personal goals.
