Kayla Happoldt, BS
Clinical Intern
About Me
I am a Master of Social Work (MSW) student at Virginia Commonwealth University
currently completing my clinical internship with Happy Place Therapeutics, LLC. I have
a background in psychology with minors in Human Services and Criminal Justice, which
has helped shape my understanding of human behavior, social systems, and the many
factors that impact mental health and overall well-being.
I bring a diverse professional background in public service and systems-based roles
supporting military service members, veterans, older adults, LGBTQ+ individuals, and
people navigating complex life challenges. These experiences have strengthened my
commitment to advocacy and my belief in the importance of compassionate, accessible,
and person-centered care.
My approach to therapy is rooted in the Whole Health model, and I strive to meet clients
where they are in a supportive, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space. I value a
strengths-based approach and believe that every person has resilience, insight, and the
capacity for growth, even during life’s most difficult moments.
My clinical interests include trauma-informed care, anxiety, depression, stress
management, grief and loss, caregivers, individuals with disabilities, veterans, and
those experiencing major life transitions. While these are my primary areas of interest, I
am genuinely passionate about supporting individuals from all walks of life.
As an intern, I am committed to continued learning, reflective practice, and growth as I
develop my clinical skills. I look forward to building meaningful therapeutic relationships
and supporting clients as they work toward their personal goals and overall well-being.
